All you need to do is spend a few minutes in a health food store or vitamin shop and you’ll most likely be bombarded with the words “probiotic” and “EM” which is short for “effective microorganism”. These are terms you should know, as they affect your health. I have written an article to assist you in making a decision with the needed information.

What are “Probiotics”?

Probiotics are actually live microorganisms, such as live bacteria or yeasts. Administered in adequate amounts, they have health benefits. Lactic Acid Bacteria, or LAB, is a common Probiotic Supplements. You find it in yogurt. This is what gives them a sour taste, it also is what contains the characteristic of being able to lower your pH.

What do Probiotics do?

As mentioned above, Probiotic Supplements lower pH. These are most often used to help promote and restore intestinal flora to help ward against infection. As an example, antibiotics are known to alter the intestinal flora and cause stomach upset. To prevent this, eat plenty of yogurt containing lactic acid bacteria.

What is EM Technology?

Teruo Higa, a Japanese horticulturist, developed Effective Microorganism Technology (EM Technology) in the 1970s. Through his study, research and testing, he reportedly was able to positively influence decomposing matter so that it actually stopped decomposing. His discoveries have led to many applications in the fields of agriculture, farming, human health and animal husbandry. Because this technology can be adapted to all things that are living, it has been applied to many sciences.
